Power rating is one of the first specifications buyers notice, but a higher number is not automatically the right choice. The correct platform depends on electrical capacity, inlet-water conditions, expected flow and product positioning.
What the power rating changes
Rated power affects how much heat the unit can add while water is flowing. With other conditions equal, an 8.5 kW platform can support a greater temperature rise or a higher flow than a 5.5 kW platform. Actual results still depend on inlet temperature, flow rate, voltage and installation conditions.
Where 5.5 kW platforms fit
A 5.5 kW model can suit compact product ranges and markets where available electrical capacity is more limited. These platforms are available in several ABS and glass-front formats, giving distributors flexibility in price positioning and appearance.
Buyers should confirm whether the expected flow and seasonal inlet temperature align with the intended application. The final circuit and protective-device requirements must be checked locally.
Where 8.5 kW platforms fit
An 8.5 kW platform is often considered when the market expects stronger heating performance and the installation supports the electrical load. Larger glass-front and curved-glass models can also suit more premium showroom or retail positioning.
Compare the full configuration
Do not compare power alone. Review dimensions, mounting format, front material, control panel, heating body, finish, packaging and market documentation. Two products with the same rated power may serve different price points and customer expectations.
